Fishing

When people think of fishing in Polk County, the lakes and the county parks come to most people’s minds. In the suburbs, there are a number of ponds that produce quality fishing year in and year out. But downtown fishing, particularly around the East Village was new to me until last week.

Because the East Village of Des Moines is typically where I work, play and explore my less rugged side, I cannot believe it took me this long to make it a fishing destination.

This particular trip didn’t last long because I broke a rod, so I didn’t catch fish, but I know the fish are there-I’ve caught them in both directions. The views of people ice skating at Brenton and people enjoying walking and running on the Women of Achievement Bridge were a fun change of pace. Ice fishing isn’t for me so this time of year if I’m fishing, it will be where the water is open and moving-at the river.

Even if you don’t fish, this is a lovely stretch of the river to walk and enjoy!

May 2025 greet you with blessings and positive spirits throughout the year with breath and gratitude,

Meghan

Amy’s Corner - From Online Courses to Selling Homes: A Year in Review

Can you believe it's already been a year?! Feels like just yesterday I was glued to my computer screen, spending every waking hour taking online real estate licensing courses - and I made it! Huge thanks to my amazing business partner, Meghan, for keeping me sane and helping me hit the ground running.

This year has been a wild ride! I've had the privilege of helping friends, neighbors, and even afew lucky referrals find their dream homes (or sell their current ones). It's been incredibly rewarding to be a part of their journeys. As we head into 2025, I'm excited to keep learning, growing, and helping more clients. Bring on the next chapter!
