Favorite Things in the 515 - Taste of New York Pizza
We have a lot of pizza options in the metro and everyone has a favorite and a top 5. I was quite surprised to find myself adding a new contender to my favorite list in my 18th year of living here and even more shocking, it is in WDM! It is not located within 15 minutes of either of my homes, but it is totally worth the drive.
They serve pizza by the slice (obviously you can get the whole pie) and it has a distinctive New York authenticity that is hard to find in Iowa. The crust is thin, foldable and perfection in texture. Adam tried the Sicilian meat specialty option and found it delicious and coming from Chicago, a worthy pizza contender. I tried the vegetarian margherita pizza and had to concur, it was the most flavorful pizza I have enjoyed in years whether in DSM or traveling.
The location is convenient for pickup but it is also a nice dine in option, with lots of homages to first responders in NYC and the city as a muse. It is also a bargain, two huge slices of pizza and wo fountain drinks were under $20! Give it a try and if you have pizza recommendations, send them-Spring is definitely try new things season!

Amy’s Corner -Community Building
Spring's warmth brings my neighborhood to life. I love seeing the kids play, the dogs walk, and everyone soak up the sun. This season ignites my passion for community building, inspiring events like Easter egg hunts and block parties. It wasn't always this way; when I moved in during winter, I felt completely disconnected from my neighbors and the larger community. With Spring, I was getting outside, meeting my neighbors and building our community one walk and conversation at a time.
I know that transforming a neighborhood into a community takes effort. That's why I'm dedicated to helping others create these connections. I share ideas and organize events to spark that community spirit. If you're ready to turn your street into a place where everyone belongs, let's connect-I am never too busy to help plan an event!
