Favorite Things in the 515 - Mother’s Day

For many years, my Mother’s Day tradition was brunch and then a whole day of planting flowers and working in the yard. Even as an adult I like to play in the dirt and fortunately for me, my kids mostly did too which always made it a fun day. Planting their handpicked gifts for me was an annual tradition marking the warmer weather and the mother/child relationship.

I learned this from my mother who also liked to play in dirt and grow things; looking back I can see that it was a meditative practice for her. After experiencing some unimaginable sadness after the deaths of my siblings, I think the care and attention required to grow something beautiful and keep it safe spoke to her. The love of growing something into its most beautiful version is a legacy that was shared with me and passed on to my children, a tradition I pray will endure in plants and people we love.

This month’s 515 Fave is the Moms. We see you and we love you.

Thanks for being a part of my tribe.

With breath and gratitude,

- Meghan
